Climbing Pena Blanca is a challenging and rewarding route. Along this hike, we will pass through the outskirt villages of San Lucas and into the countryside along the river. On this hike you will see all kinds of livestock including pigs, horses, cows, donkeys and more. We will also pass over a hillside with a 360 degree view of the mountains, where the ground is copiously littered with quartz crystal. Amazing rock formations in varying shades of white, green and orange paint the backdrop. The experience is unique and breathtaking.
This hike has many challenges and is appropriate for those of us who seek adventure. To complete this hike, you must be comfortable with areas of skinny trails, being off trail at times and being near roaming, large livestock. You also must be steady on your feet, in good physical condition, have boots or shoes with adequate tread and able to walk up several flights of stairs and 5 miles without a break.
This hike includes lunch at a local family owned Mexican restaraunt. The food is traditional to the area, is delicious and our business gives back to the community where we will explore.
